After graduating from the Massachusetts College of Art, Penelope built a successful career as a global footwear designer. After college she moved to New York City to start her career, worked for brands such as DKNY, Vince Camuto and Michael Kors. She made her way back to Haverhill after being recruited for a design role at Timberland. Starting as a designer and working her way up to become the Women’s Global Design Director. She later founded her own consultancy, which gave her the flexibility to focus on what she values most; giving back to her community.
Penelope has been a dedicated youth advocate since her own high school years, serving as a counselor at the Girls’ Club and Summer Nights program, and as a leading member of HYC (Hispanic Youth Committee). She has continued this work as an adult, volunteering on city & community boards. Appointed by the Mayor to the Youth Activity and Mental Health Committee and the Community Affairs Advisory Board, where she oversees youth, school, and nonprofit funds. She also serves on the board of the Haverhill Chamber, Make It Haverhill, and she is the Treasurer of the Latino Coalition.
Now running for School Committee At-Large, Penelope is committed to ensuring academic excellence, equity, and opportunity for every child in Haverhill.
She will promote after-school and enrichment programs, smart budgeting that prioritizes classrooms, and strong community partnerships that help students thrive.
Her leadership will ensure students receive the resources they need to succeed and that educators have the support they deserve to do their best work.
